And all of black Twitter said: "Pretends to be shocked." Black Panther is officially a $1 billion film at the global box office as of Saturday (10 Mar.), which marks 26 days since its release. It's the 5th Marvel title, 7th superhero movie, the 16th Disney film and 33rd film at all to achieve the feat (inflation not adjusted).
In the US, it's the second-highest grossing superhero film of all time, second only to The Avengers. Globally, Black Panther tops the $500 million mark this weekend following it's opening in China, where it's expected to clock $60 million.
To put things into perspective, Black Panther was filmed on a $200 million budget, excluding marketing. At this point, profits are sitting in the hundreds of percent.
Who said people wouldn't be interested in a film with a black superhero?
