Christina Aguilera unveils new Goldlink-assisted single, “Like I Do”

12 June 2018
Full disclosure: I have not been a fan of this new Christina Aguilera era. In fact, just as this era was kicking off I tweeted that the last time Christina was relevant was when she featured on Diddy’s “Tell Me.” I was wrong. Xtina is back, and she’s back with a new Goldlink-assisted track called, “Like I Do” and in plain English, it’s a hit.
The latest single from Liberation, “Like I Do” creates both a bouncy and dreamy soundscape thanks to sharp percussion and a breathy flute melody. It’s the perfect groundswell for the sexy subject matter of the song; a quiet though confident tease where you flirt with someone who you suspect has the potential but may need some of your experienced coaching.
Maybe “Like I Do” should have been the first single off of Liberation. It’s forced me to give this era another shot and on second thought, it’s not that bad at all. The album is expected to arrive in full on Friday (15 June) so we’ll just have to wait to hear what else is on there; hopefully it’s just as good.
Meanwhile, “Like I Do” made Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Radio World Record on Thursday (7 June) and it’s ready for you to stream now via Apple Music below.
