Nike’s latest design for slides is a cautionary tale for what could happen if you let a Braam hypebeast take over a studio. That’s because the new Benassi slides come with a distinct cool kid feature: built-in fanny packs.
The once-embarrassing travel pouch has made a fierce comeback of late relocating from its traditional location around the waist to settling across the chest for the street style-conscious millennial. Nike has now placed two on your feet - one on either foot - because, well, why not.
While fanny packs are really just aesthetic for most of the world’s cool kids, here in Johannesburg, Braam kids have realised that it can add an extra level of security i.e. a secure place to stash your phone, cash and other valuables while at groove to circumvent pickpocketing. A storage compartment on your feet? Can’t think of anything you’d want to stash there other than maybe an emergency banky.
