sa’s athletes do the most

8 August 2017
South Africa's got the gold right now, and we're not talking about our mineral reserves. South African athletes, Luvo Manyonga made the country proud when he won Gold in Long Jump at this year's World Athletics Championships which are currently taking place in London, UK.
Luvo was not the only athlete to make us proud, Rushwahl Samaai managed to score an impressive bronze medal in the same event.

Their achievements are not only incredible, but testament to the fact that all people in South Africa need is opportunity in order to really succeed (rather than a lack of mental strength, as has been suggested by many critics).
Both Luvo and Rushwahl were born and raised in townships just outside of Paarl in the Western Cape.

Much has been written about Luvo Manyonga's character, specifically. The athlete had to contend with more than just difficult circumstances on his way to the top. He also had to fight off the demons of addiction and once he did, he proved that he was unstoppable.

It's impossible not to be motivated for the rest of the week after seeing the achievements of these great gentlemen. On top of everything else, well done lads. You've done the country proud.
