the chainsmokers' 'closer' breaks record for most weeks in hot 100 top 5

22 February 2017
The Chainsmokers are floating on a cloud with “Closer”. The track has just rewritten the title for a single with the most weeks in the Top 5 of the Billboard Hot 100 by totalling 26. The track rebounds 7-5 on the Billboard Hot 100 (dated March 4) after logging 12 weeks at No. 1 beginning 3 September, 2016; that week, it jumped 6-1, kicking off its top-five run.
That puts it ahead of Mark Ronson's "Uptown Funk!," featuring Bruno Mars and LeAnn Rimes' "How Do I Live" which both spent 25 weeks in the Top 5.

“Closer” also widens its lead for most weeks in the Hot 100’s Top 10 from a title’s debut with 29 weeks since its arrival on the chart at No. 9 on 20 August.
